Who We Are
The Emerald Coast Community Wellness Foundation (ECCWF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties through passion, dedication, and teamwork. We strive to make a difference by improving the community’s health and wellness through education, collaboration, and financial investment. We believe it is essential to educate individuals on the importance of preventative health care and to support organizations that provide life-changing health services for underserved people right here in our community. Providing powerful and lasting improvements to our region’s well-being is at the core of what we do.

Our History
The Emerald Coast Community Wellness Foundation (ECCWF) began as the philanthropic arm of White-Wilson Medical Center, originally known as the White-Wilson Community Foundation. For years, the Foundation served as a driving force behind local health and wellness efforts—investing in programs that addressed the physical, mental, and preventive health needs of our region.

During its time as the White-Wilson Community Foundation, the organization led and supported a number of impactful initiatives, including:
-
The Little Black Dress Party – Founded in 2010, this annual signature fundraising event has raised thousands of dollars to support women’s health programs, including breast cancer screenings and treatment support.
-
Run for the Health – A community-favorite event that promoted healthy living and helped improve access to health care and education for local residents.
-
H.C. White Charity Golf Tournament – Held in honor of Dr. H.C. White’s legacy, this tournament supports vital health services through event proceeds. Sponsorships and team registrations help further the Foundation’s impact.
-
Grantmaking for local nonprofits – Including over $22,000 awarded to Shelter House to help establish a forensic exam room and launch a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program offering trauma-informed care.
-
Community-focused programs – Such as asthma education classes, school supply drives, and other family-centered initiatives serving children and parents across our region.
In 2023, the Foundation took a significant step forward by becoming an independent nonprofit and rebranded as the Emerald Coast Community Wellness Foundation. With a dedicated Board of Directors and a broader mission, ECCWF now has greater flexibility to expand its reach and invest in diverse community-based programs that improve the overall health and wellness of the Emerald Coast.
